Privacy Policy

Overview

EatFlow helps you log meals, estimate nutrition, and understand your progress. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using the EatFlow mobile app and related backend services.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide or generate while using EatFlow, including:

• Account information such as your name, email address (including Apple Hide My Email private relay addresses when you use Sign in with Apple), Sign in with Apple identifier, and authentication provider.
• Profile information such as profile image, display name, username, bio, birth date (and derived age), gender, height, weight, activity level, goals, and nutrition targets.
• Meal information such as meal descriptions, meal photos you upload, meal times, meal types, clarification answers, saved analyses, check-only results, and logged meals.
• Nutrition analysis data such as estimated calories, macronutrients, micronutrients when available, and insights.
• Subscription entitlement information such as whether you have Premium, the subscription provider, product identifier, expiration date, original transaction identifier, and environment.
• App and device diagnostics when available, such as app version, device type, operating system, crash or error information, and basic usage events needed to operate and improve the app. On iOS, we may use Microsoft Clarity to collect session and interaction analytics (such as app usage patterns, device or session information, and an app user identifier) to help us understand performance and improve the experience.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Create and manage your account.
• Provide meal analysis, daily logs, widgets, progress summaries, and nutrition insights.
• Personalize nutrition targets and app content.
• Enforce free and Premium usage limits.
• Sync subscription entitlement status with our backend.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, debug issues, and improve reliability.
• Respond to support requests and legal obligations.

AI Meal Analysis and Day Score

Before EatFlow sends information to a third-party AI service, the app asks for your permission. If you agree, EatFlow may send AI-related inputs from our backend to OpenAI to provide AI-assisted meal analysis, clarification questions, nutrition estimates, meal summaries, recommended nutrition targets, and Day Score feedback.

For meal analysis, this may include your meal description, meal photos you upload (sent to our backend and provided to OpenAI as image URLs for analysis), clarification answers, requested app language, and related analysis instructions. For recommended nutrition targets, this may include age, gender, height, weight, preferred units, goal, activity level, and target intensity. For Day Score feedback, this may include logged meal titles, meal types, nutrition totals, meal tags, daily nutrition targets, and relevant profile context such as age, gender, goal, and target intensity.

If you save or finalize a meal with photos, those photos may remain stored with your meal record and be displayed later in Meal Details. Nutrition estimates from photos are approximate and may be inaccurate.

When voice meal input becomes available, you may be able to describe meals by voice. If you choose to use that feature in the future, voice-related inputs may be processed similarly to text for meal analysis, subject to in-app notice and your choices at that time.

We do not intentionally include your name, email address, Apple user identifier, password, payment information, or account identifiers in OpenAI prompts. OpenAI handles this information according to its applicable privacy and data protection terms.

AI analysis results are estimates. They may be incomplete or inaccurate and should not be treated as medical, dietetic, or safety advice.

Subscriptions and Payments

Premium subscriptions are purchased through the app store available on your device, such as Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes payments through your store account. EatFlow receives subscription entitlement information needed to unlock Premium features, such as provider, product identifier, entitlement status, expiration date, and transaction identifiers. We do not receive or store your full payment card details from Apple or Google.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers who help us operate EatFlow, including hosting, database, cache, analytics or diagnostics (such as Microsoft Clarity on iOS), AI processing (such as OpenAI), secure object storage (such as Cloudflare R2 for meal and profile images), and subscription entitlement services. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer.

Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. Passwords are stored as hashes. Meal photos and profile images may be stored in Cloudflare R2, a secure object storage service. Stored images are kept in private storage and are typically accessed through time-limited signed URLs rather than public links. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We keep account, meal, nutrition, and subscription data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. If you delete your account, we deactivate it and delete or anonymize information according to our retention practices and legal requirements.

Your Choices

You can update profile information in the app, delete meals, choose whether to save exact meal analyses for reuse, manage Premium through Apple App Store or Google Play, and request account deletion from Profile settings. You may contact support for privacy questions or data requests.

Children

EatFlow is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted in the app or backend legal page with a new updated date.
